FROM THE TRACK: Thruxton push for points...

Chrissy pushes for points at Thruxton

A sole visit to Thruxton for the season...

Chrissy has retained his 7th position in the championship after a ninth place finish at Thruxton on its sole visit of the season.

After qualifying in eight position for Sunday's race on his Morello Racing Kawasaki ZX-10RR, Chrissy started out with a slower start than he ideally wanted, but managed to hold his starting position in the opening laps to give him a great opportunity to move up the pack as the race progressed.

By lap 9, Chrissy had pushed his way forward by three places and was sitting comfortably in 6th position on the track and was sticking close to the leading group. Giving a solid, but hard pushed race, Chrissy managed to keep with the pack for a while but with two laps left to go, he admitted he was struggling for grip and had no choice but to back off to ensure he finished the race in a solid 9th place to bring some points home.

After the race, Chrissy had a good attitude and outlook on the performance...

Over to Chrissy!

“Basically, I had a plan for the race. I was confident that I had a good pace, we did some long stints in practice and I felt I knew what I was dealing with.”

“In the race, I think I got boxed in a bit on the first lap and I had to really push much harder than I’d have liked to catch the front group and I just used too much tyre.

“In the second half of the race, I felt it was going well but in the last few laps I had no pace and I couldn’t maintain my position. I realised I’d pushed too hard in those opening laps and I didn’t have any grip left.”

“I am disappointed because I was looking on course for a strong finish. But it was just one of those things, it was my mistake. I hadn’t qualified well so I gave myself a lot of work to do and it proved a bit costly at the end.

“It was good to get another points finish. I’m still seventh in the championship so I haven’t lost too much there and now I’m just looking forward to my favourite track, Cadwell Park, in a few weeks.”
