The fibreglass outer layer provides excellent strength and efficiency of energy dissipation over the shell, while the uni-directional carbon composite layer provides significantly greater radial strength around the shell, preventing compression yet allowing controlled deflection for reducing transmitted impact energy. This is then bolstered further by the aramid fibre and fibreglass layers, providing critical penetration protection.
