FROM THE TRACK: A Win and a Second for delighted Mr.Rouse

CHRISSY Rouse celebrated his first win of the season along with a second place in a successful weekend of Pirelli National Superstock Championship action at Oulton Park.

From pole, Rouse led from the start of the 12-lap race…

Aboard his STAUFF Fluid Power Kawasaki, Rouse ran consistently in the top three during free practice before qualifying in seventh position for the opening race.

At the green light he made one of his trademark fast starts, rocketing straight up into the lead and setting the pace for the opening laps. However, former BSB regular Luke Mossey was on a charge and found a way past into the lead on lap four.

From there, the pair kept together for the remainder of the race, and although he looked poised to try a move on the final lap, Rouse didn’t have an answer for Mossey and settled for second, determined to come out fighting the next day for race two.

And this time he really wasn’t taking any prisoners. Thanks to his fastest lap in race one, he started the second from pole and wasted no time, getting another of his impressive starts to launch himself straight into the lead.

And after a tough 2021 season, Rouse was delighted.

“What a brilliant weekend, I’m over the moon to get my first win of the year, especially after the last few rounds which haven’t been great for us,” he said.

“Finishing second in the first race was great but to then back it up with a win and nice haul of points is fantastic. Just be up there, battling for the win shows how hard we’ve all been working.

“The whole team has thrown everything at it over the last few rounds to get the bike sorted out and we’ve definitely found something that’s worked. It was great to be able to reward the team with a win after all their hard work.

Rouse takes the chequered flag and his first win of the season…

“From first practice I felt great on the bike, the speed was there and everything just ran smoothly. Most of the time in racing, things don’t tend to work to plan but this weekend everything just seemed to fit and to finish the weekend off with a win was amazing.

“It is late in the year and I know the title defence isn’t really going to be possible but I’m hoping we can continue this run and I’m hoping for a strong end to the season.”
