FROM THE TRACK: Winning Weekend for #69 !

Winning weekend sees Chrissy Rouse grace the top of the podium!

Winning weekend see's Chrissy on top of the podium!

The moment we've all been waiting for - Chrissy finishes the weekend top of the podium and takes his first victory of the season!

6 years to the day since Chrissy last graced the top of the podium with his presence, back at the Triumph Triple Challenge in 2013 at Silverstone, he returns to the much desired spot after a fantastic race at Donnington!

After qualifying in 4th position for Sunday's 15 lap race event, Chrissy prepared for the track time on his Morello Racing Kawasaki with baited breath, with weather reports anticipating heavy rain all day for the race day. However, as luck would have it, the rain backed off and the track had already slowly started to dry out as the Superstock event prepared to start!

The decision to run on dry tyres, but keep the wet suspension set up turned out to be a bit of a stroke of genius, as Chrissy took off at the start of the race and pushed himself straight up to second place behind Taylor Mackenzie.

As several riders crashed out, and the safety car was brought into play, the race had a bit of a slow initial push up until lap 6 when the race got back into full swing... where race leader Mackenzie unfortunately crashed out and Cooper swung into the lead, with Chrissy following keenly behind him in 2nd position.

Chrissy made a wicked move and swiped the lead away from Cooper shortly afterwards and showing a delightful and skillful display of riding, kept Cooper in check and pushed his lead further and further ahead until crossing the finish line in 1st position - 3.556 seconds ahead of Cooper!

Chrissy has been showing greater and greater skill and focus as the season has progressed - with an amazing result taken this weekend! So lets find out what Chrissy had to say after all was said and done (after he had calmed down enough to speak, that is!

Over to Chrissy!

"The first few laps were a little bit sketchy but it got drier and drier and I just got my head down. I felt in control, it was a perfect race."

“To make it even more special, today is actually six years to the day I won my last race, which was the day I won the Triumph Triple Championship at Silverstone. I was totally overwhelmed when I crossed the line. I cried all the way round on the cool down lap and I couldn’t get my words out when I was interviewed. This is everything to me. It’s been a long time coming and that probably makes it even more special."

“I’d like to take this moment to thank everyone who has got us here today – the team, my loyal sponsors, Alan Carter for his positive influence, my family and every one of my supporters for sticking with me. This is for everyone who has been a part of our journey – bring on Brands Hatch.”

I don't know how all the Chrissy Rouse fans feel but, at MSG we all can't wait to see what kind of performance Chrissy pulls off at Brands Hatch!
